Early Fall 2011...

The season so far on the Rogue River has been nothing short of incredible! We have had an awesome early run of big fall Steelhead to start our young season. We have been experiencing many days that are into the double digits on our numbers of fish, as well in pounds of many of the huge steelies the Rogue has been kicking out this season. This is just the beginning of what is turning out to be an amazing season so far. We will be seeing huge numbers of fish entering the river over the next few weeks, just waiting for our clients to present a fly in front of them!

The Fall Run Chinook Salmon bite is equally as hot as the steelhead bite. This has been the season of the monster Chinook with many fish in the 30 pound plus range landed and one Lucky Angler John Bjorkholm of Medford Or, landed a 43 inch 40 pound plus buck Chinook on his first outing with us. These fish are still red hot and are slamming flies so hard they have been setting the hook on themselves. The fall run Chinook on the Rogue are biters and readily take flies in the mouth. They are a great bonus fish when targeting steelhead on the Rogue.

This is the first season we have fished with both of the Lower Dams being removed on the Rogue. The fish are more plentiful, much brighter and have been retaining much more weight than we have ever seen before. There were estimates that we were losing between 30-40% of our runs below those migratory obstructions and now that they are gone, I would have to say I would agree. More, heavier and brighter fish equals very happy anglers and guides!

We have very limited space available for the rest of the season so if you would like to get a piece of the action, drop us a line!
